Portraits of Sinead O'Connor as a child raise €26,000 for charity

A PRIVATE portrait of Sinead O'Connor as a child and another piece of art from the singer's personal collection has helped raise more than €26,000 for charity.
Both paintings were donated by the singer for auction at the Whyte's Important Irish Art auction in the RDS, Dublin.
The portrait of Sinead as a young girl by artist Thomas Ryan shows the controversial singer, aged between seven and 10 years of age. It sold for more than €7,000 at the auction last night while another of her collection, a portrait by Co Wicklow artist Neil Condron 'Upon Small Shoulders', also went under the hammer for €19,500.
The big-hearted singer donated all of the proceeds to the Cork-based charity Penny Dinners.
