Confermata la presenza Adele, Chris Brown e Sugarland, mentre Miley Cyrus e Taylor Swift si esibiranno in una speciale performance, ed Estelle canterà in un duetto con Kanye West. Questi nomi si aggiungono a quelli già confermati nella line-up ufficiale dell’evento: U2, Radiohead, Justin Timberlake, Kenny Chesney, Coldplay, Jennifer Hudson, Jonas Brothers, Kid Rock, Lil Wayne, Paul McCartney (con la special guest Dave Grohl dei Foo Fighters), Katy Perry, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Rihanna, T.I., Carrie Underwood, Jay-Z, e Kanye West in un’altra speciale performance della sua hit single “Swagga Like Us.” Superfavorito è il rapper Lil Wayne, che ha ricevuto ben otto nomination. A seguire i Coldplay con sette nomination, poi Jay-Z, Ne-Yo e Kanye West con sei nomination. Cinque nomination per Alison Krauss, John Mayer, Robert Plant, Radiohead e Jazmine Sullivan, mentre Adele, Danger Mouse, Eagles, Lupe Fiasco, George Strait, e T.I. hanno ricevuto quattro nomination ciascuno. Nella categoria miglior nuovo artista, le nomination sono andate a Adele, Duffy, i Jonas Brothers e Lady Antebellum.Le nomination per l’album dell’anno sono andate a Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends dei Coldplay, Tha Carter III di Lil Wayne, Year Of The Gentleman di Ne-Yo, Raising Sand di Robert Plant & Alison Krauss e In Rainbows dei Radiohead.Adele e T-Pain hanno ricevuto entrambi 4 nomination. Humphrey), e una per Album Of The Year (as a featured artist and producer on Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III). Al Green gareggia su tre categorie: Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals (Stay With Me (By The Sea) con John Legend), Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance (You’ve Got The Love I Need with Anthony Hamilton), e Best R&B Album (Lay It Down). Chris Brown, Estelle e Sugarland hanno ciascuno 2 nomination: Chris Brown nella categoria Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals (No Air with Jordin Sparks) e Best Male R&B Vocal Performance (Take You Down).
