The Johnsons singer is curating this year's arts festival on London's South Bank
The first line up details have emerged of this year's Meltdown Festival in London, which is being curated by Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons.
The first batch of artists include Laurie Anderson, herself a former Meltdown curator, Marc Almond, who will perform the 1983 Marc and The Mambas album Torment and Toreros, Elizabeth Fraser of the Cocteau Twins and a collection of Super 8 films by Derek Jarman, each with new soundtracks by Myrninerest and Cyclobe.
Said Hegarty of his choices: "I dreamed of assembling a constellation of courageous artists, all of whom have used their platforms as cultural producers to challenge us. They have exhibited a ferocity in their pursuit of beauty, and, falling like a guillotine behind it, justice.”
Meltdown takes place 1-12 August at the Southbank Centre, London.
